REPORTS TO: Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree

  2. Principal certification

  3. PDAS certification

  4. Five years successful teaching experience.

  5. Successful leadership in facilitating groups, delivering staff development, and coaching staff.

JOB GOALS:

  1. To provide the leadership and expertise needed to make instruction effective and positive for each student.

  2. To assist teacher in identifying and applying various research-based instructional strategies including project-based learning in the classroom.

  3. To assist in analyzing student assessment data and developing plans for improvement.

  4. To act as liaison among the Curriculum and Instruction Division, Instructional Support Division and  UT Tyler. 

  5.  To coordinate the planning and delivery of staff development with the Curriculum and Instruction Division, the Instructional Support Division, and UT Tyler.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 5, 204 days.  Wage/Hour Status:  Exempt. 


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.

Serves as a liaison between district level curriculum coordinators, advanced academics department, CTE department, UT Tyler, and campus instructional faculty in order to effectively coordinate the Gateway to Technology Curriculum with TISD curriculum.

2.

Demonstrate effective coaching and guidance skills and inspire both the respect and the trust of principals, teachers, and other colleagues.

3.       

Works with teachers through grade levels and/or content areas to implement curriculum and assessment instruments and interventions based upon student data.

4.       

Facilitates analysis and evaluation of student performance at Boulter as such relates to the Gateway to Technology curriculum and TISD curriculum.

5.       

Promote the content relevance and effectiveness in terms of TEKS and Project-Based Learning within the campus improvement plan.

6.       

Performs classroom visitations and demonstration  lessons to model strategies and monitors curriculum implementation through effective coaching methods.

7.       

Develops and publishes a newsletter, handbook and brochure for Gateway to Technology and pre-engineering program.

8.       

Informs teachers of major curriculum trends and developments and leads study groups of current research.

9.

Provides performance assessment training for staff, mentor teachers, Pre-AP teachers, and Gateway to Technology teachers.

10.

Closely monitors benchmark data and analyzes student performance and teaching methods in the content areas.

11.

Meets regularly with district level staff and then confers with campus administration to conduct staff development on curriculum, instructional focus.

12.

Orients new teachers and works with mentor teachers in the content areas and instructional strategies to refine skills.

13.   

Facilitates the preparation of curriculum alignment materials, assessment materials, inventories and budget requests for staff development and materials.

14.   

Facilitates coordination with Response to Intervention (RTI) program and assists in preparation, grouping, tutorials, and inclusion programs.

15.   

Assists with campus planning and scheduling in coordination with the campus and district plan and meets with the district advanced academics department, CTE department, and UT Tyler School of Education to coordinate efforts.

16.   

Participates in UT Tyler School of Education committees and meetings.

17.   

Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

18.   

Collaborates with advanced academics department, CTE department, UT Tyler, and communicates and distributes calendar of events to all parties.

19.   

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

20.   

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position as assigned.

21.   

Annually establishes and meets performance goals as outlined in the campus improvement plan.

Mental Demands: 
Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate campus support functions. 
Physical Demands: 
Moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.  May be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions.  Work with frequent interruptions.  Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.  Occasional district-wide travel.
