634IB - DISTRICT INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE SPECIALIST


REPORTS TO:  District IB Facilitator


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. Master’s Degree and Texas Administrative Certificate preferred
  2. Valid Texas teaching certificate with a minimum five years teaching experience and/or administrative experience.
  3. Knowledge of IB Diploma Programme requirements with IB experience at the high school level preferred.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

JOB GOALS:

  1. To assist the District IB Facilitator with the promotion, implementation, and management of the IB programs in TISD.
  2. To provide leadership, support and supervision of the Diploma Programme.
  3. To work as a team to support the implementation and supervision of the Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme.

 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Teacher Pay Plus 5 Days - Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


                                              

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  
Assists with communication about IB programs with the Advanced Studies Coordinator, principal, teachers, parents, students, and the community.

Monitors IB updates to ensure that all IB program requirements are being met.

  1.  

Responds to requests for information from the IBO, following through to authorization and follow up evaluations.

  1.  

Assists with the preparation and submission of any documentation required for authorization and program evaluations.

  1.  

Assists with the coordination, collection and submission of Moderation/Monitoring of Assessment Samples as directed by IBO.

  1.  

Communicates with other IB schools, IBO, and TIBS regarding IB implementation issues and ideas.

  1.  

Assists with parent information sessions in order to build parent support for students.

  1.  

Assist with outreach and a calendar of events to the wider community of learners through such media as the PTA discussion forum, email contact with colleagues and school visits.

Uses appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

  1.  
Makes recommendations regarding training opportunities on and off campus and ensures that staff members are made aware of professional development opportunities available for IB.
  1.  

Facilitates activities designed to promote and encourages esprit-de-corps for IB students, parents and teachers.

  1.  

Assists in compiling, maintaining, and presenting all reports, records, and other documents required by Advanced Studies.

  1.  

Assists with a calendar of events for the IB program.

  1.  

Assists with facilitating the pre-IB program including recruiting potential IB students, receiving applications, interviewing candidates and communicating with parents.

  1.  

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

Performs other tasks and assume such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

Serves as liaison with universities for examinees, guest instruction and on-site visits as needed.
  1.  
Works with IB teachers to ensure that they understand their own subject’s requirements and have a broader awareness of the whole programme and its requirements.

Assists with the scheduling process to ensure that all courses meet Diploma Programme requirements.

  1.  

Assists with developing and administering the processes for student admission into the Diploma Program.

  1.  
Assists with the supervising the organization and structure of CAS and the extended essay.
  1.  

Assists with communicating information to teachers, students, parents, and the community regarding IB programmes.

  1.  

Conferences regularly with the District IB Facilitator and Advanced Academics Coordinator to identify the instructional issues and needs of the IB programmes.

Assists with the coordination of IB Exams including the registration, scheduling, and monitoring.

 

 

EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, Smart Board, LCD Projector

Mental Demands:  Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate district-wide curriculum functions; interpret policy, procedures, and data.
Physical Demands:
  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal possible.  Frequent district-wide travel; occasional statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
