QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree

  2. Valid Teaching certificate with at least 5 years successful teaching experience and demonstrated experience in mathematics.
  3. Texas Principal certification preferred
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOALS:

  1. To assist the Coordinator of Mathematics in the development and monitoring of specific instructional goals designed to increase teacher and student performance.
  2. To work with campus staff to increase student performance and to develop, implement, and coordinate K-12 curriculum. 
  3. To assist the Coordinator in districtwide curriculum infrastructure and support to impact student results. 
     

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Paygrade 3: 204 days; Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

LEADERSHIP

1.

Facilitates the distribution of best practices to all district curricular personnel in mathematics instruction and serves as a lead trainer in developing and providing staff development to teachers in mathematics.

2.

Assists with district curriculum revision teams in developing, maintaining, and revising curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis in identified areas of expertise.

3.       

Applies research and data to improve the content, sequence, alignment, and outcomes of the teaching / learning process.

4.       

Assists in securing input and data to evaluate curriculum and instructional program effectiveness.

5.       

Participates and serves as a Tyler ISD representative with local community organizations such as the P16 Council, higher education such as UT Tyler, the STEM grant project, and state programs in mathematics.

CAMPUS SUPPORT

6.

Plans, implements, and evaluates TEKS-based instructional programs with teachers, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.

7.

Meets with grade level / subject area teachers at the campus level to clarify the curriculum sequence and develop lesson goals, objectives, and teaching strategies for the upcoming weeks.

8.

Meets with district and grade level / subject area teachers at the campus level to review assessment data in specific subject area and plan interventions to improve instruction.

9.

Provides demonstration lessons and meet with teachers to discuss practices and compare planned instruction with actual performed instruction.

10.

Informs teachers of major curriculum trends and developments and leads study groups of current research.

ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS

11.   

Compiles, maintains, files, and presents reports, records, and other documents required.

12.   

Implements the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy; offers constructive suggestions to ensure that policies and regulations support the teaching / learning process.

13.   

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

14.   

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

Equipment used:  Computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, projection system, Medicast hardware

Mental Demands:  Reading, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written, maintain emotional control under stress; ability to coordinate and facilitate district-wide curriculum functions. 

Physical Demands:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computers; transporting curriculum materials for staff development; and frequent district-wide travel; occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
