Admission, Referral, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and interprets, if

Guides
independent study work assigned by mainstream teacher. |

Rewords and
explains information presented by teacher which is not understood by
student due to language deficiencies. |

Rewrites
tests to suit language level of mainstream students. |

Creates and
provides written tutorials for tests. |

Meets with
students as requested (by students or mainstream teacher) to provide
tutorial in subject areas requiring remediation and to prepare students
for upcoming tests. |

Be alert to
possible emergency situations that might arise in the classrooms and is
aware of the best possible means of protecting the well-being of the
student. |

Assists the
deaf education and/or mainstream teacher in devising special strategies
for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of
individual students, their needs, interest, and abilities. |

Informs
mainstream teacher of basic special needs of hearing impaired students. |

|
Attends
weekly sign language classes provided at elementary and middle school
campuses to improve sign skills and coordinate signs district wide. |
-
|
Attends
special sign classes, as necessary, to learn new sign systems. |
-
|
Participates
in in-service training programs. |
-
|
A
non-certified interpreter will strive to attain state required
certification at Level I; Certified I, will strive to maintain
certification at Level I or higher; and Certified II, will strive to
maintain certification at Level II or higher. |

|
Complies
with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks
and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned. |

Maintains
positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others
in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily
