795 - DATA PROCESSING SUPPORT SPECIALIST


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school diploma or GED;

  2. Thirty sem. hours of college credit with some business orientation or equivalent  business school  training; or successful demonstration of seven areas of  competency including keyboarding, transcription, filing procedures, office records, management and business writing, or three years general clerical/secretarial experience.

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

  4. Computation, organizational and communication skills .                                   

  5. Training on the TEAMS Management System and IBM AS 400 System preferred.

REPORTS TO:                     DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY SERVICES

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. Assures the smooth and efficient operation of the Data Processing  Department.

  2. Provide technical services to district campuses and departments.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 5 Estimated  226 days;   estimated 8 daily


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

1.

Assist other departments and campuses in using the iSeries (AS/400) System.

2.

Maintain current and accurate knowledge of administrative software by TISD.

 3.

Maintain all aspects of the computers system, e.g. all systems operating functions, backups, recoveries, and the security operation.

 4.

Communicate with all schools about trouble shooting and computer problems.

 5.

Produce and deliver report cards and all ancillary reports pertaining to grade reporting.

 6.

Produce and deliver all production requests district-wide.

         7.

Log and monitor incoming telephone and TV cable installation and repair.

         8.

Provide and analysis data for PEIMS and attendance reporting.

         9.

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and such responsibilities as related to the position and assigned.

       10.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

       11.

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

       12.

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

       13.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

       14.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

 

EQUIPMENT USED: 

Uses copier, calculator, computer and printer, typewriter, telephone, fax.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written); ability to maintain control under stress. 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal; works with occasional interruptions.
