765A - ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN, SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT


REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education    

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To perform bookkeeping & accounting duties at a level that will ensure effective practices and quality results in the Special Education Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED

  2. Associates Degree in accounting or business related field from an accredited institution

  3. Minimum of six hours in accounting

  4. Two years experience in bookkeeping & accounting or business related function.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Paygrade  Estimated 226 days;  estimated 8 hours  daily


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

1.       

Assist in the maintenance of the Special Education general ledger to be on a current basis, and shall code and prepare purchase requisitions, payment vouchers, payroll requests, contract requests, travel forms, budget transfers, and other adjustments as needed.

2.       

Assist on the analysis of the general ledger, reviewing and checking for budget availability, making budget recommendations and coding items for payment.

3.       

Assist in the preparation of financial reports as required by the Special Education or Finance Director.

4.       

Assist in the research of data requested in transmitting budget applications.

5.       

Maintain good communications with the budget and financial information users (including other finance staff, finance management, campus administrators and staff, central office administrators).

6.       

Be current and knowledgeable of federal, state, and local guidelines, and will attend seminars and conferences as required by the District.

7.       

Demonstrate the ability to use personal computers and mainframe terminals available by the District.

8.       

Perform other duties as assigned by his/her director and/or supervisors.
