747 - SPECIAL EDUCATION ASSESSMENT AND MEDICAID SPECIALIST
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in working with special education records and/or Medicaid billing
High School Diploma
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Keyboarding and computer proficiency
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Thorough knowledge of the Texas Medicaid Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) and the School Health and Related Services (SHARS) Programs
Bachelor’s Degree

SUPERVISES: Medicaid and School Health and Related Services (SHARS) Program
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 5 Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/hour status: nonexempt

Ensures billing is in compliance with the Texas Medicaid Healthcare Partnership (TMHP); Medicaid Administrative Claims (MAS), and School Health and Related Services Program (SHARS) |
|
2. |
Prepare and present and/or facilitate training and information exchange to TISD staff and service providers |
|
3. |
Keep current on SHARS Medicaid policy, guidelines and regulations and attend necessary TASB and TMHP meetings and workshops |
|
4. |
Serve as liaison between TASB and TISD. |
|
5. |
Maintain Site-Based Medicaid Administration Reimbursement Tracking (SMART) database to ensure billing information is correct by running student import; transmit data to TASB; add new service providers; create default sessions for new Medicaid Special Education students; maintain default sessions to comply with the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) |
|
6. |
Review IEPs to assure all billable services the student is receiving is billed and that staff are appropriately documenting billable services in the student IEPs. |
|
7. |
Download demographic information of all Special Education students from iSeries into SMART system; upload students’ Medicaid numbers to student file on iSeries monthly |
|
8. |
Generate and distribute service tickets from SMART, customizing as needed for TISD |
|
9. |
Monitors all service tickets returned to insure all information is complete and correct and maintain auditable files |
|
10. |
Maintain auditable files, and gather and prepare for audits, and assist during audits |
|
11. |
Generate claims using SMART software, follow-up and resubmit rejected claims as necessary |
|
12. |
Generate financial and other reports as needed. |
|
13. |
Deliver and pick up prescriptions for Physical and Occupational Therapy in a timely manner |
|
14. |
Verify revenue amount, received by the District from TMHP, balances with records on the SMART system. |
|
15. |
Receive and direct incoming telephone calls |
|
16. |
Complete Child Find referrals by asking appropriate questions and completing the form. |
|
17. |
Process, organize and file Child Find referrals |
|
18. |
Maintain database/logs on referral information using Excel |
|
19. |
Type, print and mail all “Notice for Evaluations”. |
|
20. |
Organize and prepare evaluation folders for testing days. |
|
21. |
Call parents to remind them of testing sessions. |
|
22. |
Organize and file test data and student information |
|
23. |
Effectively communicate with evaluation team staff (audiologist, and preschool and autism assessment team personnel) |
|
24. |
Access and work with student information through eSped and TEAMS |
|
25. |
Is prompt, timely, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments and conducting district business |
|
26. |
Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences |
|
27. |
Maintains a positive attitude with staff and community |
|
28. |
Complies with district policies, safety procedures, and directions from supervisor |
|
29. |
Performs other tasks as may be assigned. |
