884B - HVAC TECHNICIAN - HIGH SCHOOL


REPORTS TO:  High School Lead

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED; Federal Environmental Protection Agency refrigerant certification preferred
  2. Three years verifiable on-the-job experience as a service man without direct supervision
  3. Demonstrates professional manner and aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities
  4. Valid Texas drivers license and insurable
  5. Ability and desire to grow professionally
  6. Conscientiously maintains assigned paper work
  7. Willingness to work occasional overtime


JOB GOALS:

  1. To install, service, repair all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment and boiler maintenance

  2. Some electrical work involved as associated with HVAC equipment, appliances, refrigeration equipment and laundry equipment, and boilers at High School


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 6; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily. Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.    

Plans and schedules daily assigned work orders (prepare materials needed and equipment required).  Maintain work orders in proper priorities.

2.    

Survey large or questionable job with HS Lead.

3.    

Survey safety devices and equipment on a regular basis.  Keep equipment and tools in a clean and safe condition, including shop and/or work areas.

4.    

Provides complete and accurate information concerning work assigned and/or completed to the Leadman.

5.    

Observes and practices all safety rules and requirements pertaining to hazardous chemicals, asbestos containing materials (ACM), and environmental hazards.

6.    

Performs according to job requirements concerning climbing ladders, scaffolds and platforms in order to do work, including roof tops of multistory buildings.

7.    

Ability to do required lifting and carrying of reasonable loads of at least fifty (50) pounds.

8.    

Complies with directions and instructions from HS Lead and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

9. 

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

10. 

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

11. 

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

12. 

Follows the daily work schedule and makes good use of time.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:  Uses manual and power tools to perform heating, ventilating, and air conditioning tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: 
Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 pound.  Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders; work in ditches/excavations, work on top of and underneath single story and multistory building, work alone.
