884A - HVAC, MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II - FOOD SERVICE


REPORTS TO:       SUPERVISOR OF FOOD SERVICE AND DIRECTOR OF FOOD SERVICE

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED; Federal Environmental Protection Agency refrigerant certified, other certification as required
  2. Five years verifiable on-the-job experience as a service man without direct supervision
  3. Demonstrates ability to diagnose and repair kitchen equipment
  4. Must have an understanding of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, ventilating, pipe fitting, and refrigeration as it relates to kitchen equipment.
  5. Valid Texas drivers license and insurable
  6. Ability to maintain assigned paper work and records including;  purchase orders, ordering references, work orders, and other paperwork as required.      
  7. Willingness to work occasional overtime

JOB GOALS:
To install, service, repair, and maintain all kitchen equipment such as; ovens, steamers, tilt skillets, freezers, coolers, milk boxes, ice machines, serving lines, dish machines, and any other kitchen equipment.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 7; Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.    

Plans and schedules daily assigned tasks (check for work orders, prepare materials needed and equipment required). 

2.

Maintain work orders in proper priorities and turn them in as completed with accurate description of work performed.

3.    

Survey large or questionable jobs with Supervisor.

4.    

Survey safety devices and equipment on a regular basis.  Keep equipment and tools in a clean and safe condition, including shop and/or work areas.

5.    

Maintain truck in an operational condition by checking oil, transmission, water, battery, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and tire pressure on a weekly basis; report any problems to the supervisor.  Maintains the truck organized and clean.

6.    

Provides complete and accurate information concerning work assigned and communicates status of job with Supervisor or Director.

7.    

Observes and practices all safety rules and requirements pertaining to hazardous chemicals, asbestos containing materials (ACM), and environmental hazards.

8.    

Observes safety practices concerning climbing ladders, platforms, and roof tops of multistory buildings.

9.    

Ability to do required lifting and carrying of reasonable loads of at least fifty (50) pounds.

10.    

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

11.

Notifies kitchen manager or staff when entering and performing work in the kitchen during normal business hours.

12. 

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

13. 

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

14. 

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

15.

Follows the daily work schedule and makes good use of time.

16.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

17.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Uses manual, power tools, and any tools needed for plumbing, HVAC, electrical, pipe fitting, carpentry, and any tasks associated with kitchen equipment maintenance.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 pound.  Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders; work on top of and underneath single story and multistory building, work alone.
