882 NETWORK COMPUTER TECHNICIAN


Reports to: Coordinator of Technology Services

 

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Two years of College/Trade school and/or networking certifications
3. Four years or more work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing networked computers and peripherals.
4. In depth knowledge of computer common computer hardware and software applications
5. Knowledge of network operating systems and theory of operation
6. Ability to install, maintain and repair computers and related technology equipment.
7. Ability to install and maintain network cables and related hardware
8. Ability to diagnose and perform computer and related repairs

Job Goals:
1. Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer systems, network equipment, software applications and all related technology equipment throughout the district.
2. Respond to service ticket requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware and software.
 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 7; Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

1.   Install, maintain and upgrade computers and related technology equipment throughout the district.

2.       

Respond to technology service requests in a timely manner.

3.       

Assist Network Engineers with the installation and troubleshooting of network cabling and network equipment as needed.

4.       

Works with outside vendors to coordinate installations and repair services.

5.       

Relocate technology equipment as needed throughout the district.

6.       

Maintain appropriate fixed asset paperwork to assist fixed asset coordinator in keeping accurate inventory records.

7.       

Install software as needed to facilitate the instructional needs of the district.

8.       

1.   Provide technical assistance and light training to faculty and staff for the use of technology equipment.

9.       

Maintain accurate records of time, mileage, parts, materials and duties performed in the repair and service of district equipment.

10.    

Operate tools and equipment to prescribed safety procedures.

11.    

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing and carrying. Reports unsafe conditions in the work area to supervisor.

12.    

Responds to after-hours emergencies as needed.

13.    

Maintains a positive and cooperative working relationship with colleagues and campus staff in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

14.    

Completes daily activities in a timely manner and resolves service tickets in a reasonable amount of time.

15.    

Meets attendance standards and complies with the notification procedures of absences.

Equipment Used:  Computers, hand tools, power tools, cable test equipment, electronic test equipment

Working Conditions:
Physical Demands:
Climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, frequent use of small hand tools, working in small cramped spaces, ability to lift up to 75 pounds repetitively, frequent district-wide travel.

Mental/environmental demands: Occasional prolonged or irregular hours, ability to work under stress, ability to adhere to strict deadlines, ability to make quick decisions
