QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas drivers license
Knowledge of Electronic circuits and wiring and operating principles of electronic controls.
Knowledge of local electrical codes.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
Ability to use hand and power tools.
Three years experience in electronic field
Must be willing to work occasional overtime

REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE FOREMAN

JOB GOALS:

Assist in maintaining, repairing, and installing electronic systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electronic fixtures and systems in district facilities, including, but not limited to, Intercom systems, Bell systems, Fire Alarm systems, and Athletic Scoreboards.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 3; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily; Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.	Assist in installing and repairing wiring, electronic fixtures, electronic equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following codes, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
2.	Assist in installing and repairing control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
3.	Assist in installing and connecting power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
4.	Assist in diagnosing and resolving problems in electronic circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment
5.	Assist in testing continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
6.	Assist in measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threaders, and conduit bender.
7.	Assist in repairing and/or replacing electronic appliances, including, but not limited to, Intercoms, Fire Alarms, Bell systems and Athletic Scoreboards.
8.	Assist in receiving and completing work orders.
9.	Assist in selecting material and hardware and making time and materials estimates.
10.	Assist in maintaining accurate records on material and labor used.
11.	Assist in maintaining inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials.
12.	Assist in working with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
13.	Assist in detecting needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
14.	Respond to emergency calls as needed.
15.	Assist in performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
16.	Assist in operating tools and equipment according to established procedures.
17.	Assist in ensuring that all equipment is in safe operating condition.
18.	Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
19.	Assist in correcting unsafe conditions in work area and reporting any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
20.	Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
21.	Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.
22.	Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
23.	Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.
24.	Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
25.	Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
26.	Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

Multimeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe benders and threaders; hand and power tools (saw, drills, etc.); trencher; jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder. Light truck or van

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental demands: Reading, ability to understand written & verbal instructions.

Physical Demand/Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical power lines, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent districtwide travel.
