830A Camp Tyler M/T Manager TRAINEE


QUALIFICATIONS:

1.                  Must have a High School diploma or GED
2.                 
Ability to assign work, instruct workers, inspect work and write reports and work with others
3.                 
First Aid, Aquatic Safety, and CPR knowledge.  Food Service and Hazardous Materials Safety certification
4.                 
Possess a thorough understanding of Texas Youth Camp Safety Act and County Health Code.
5.                 
Must be a self-starter, motivated, and willing to work for the welfare of children with the help of children.
6.                 
Willing to work weekends and holidays.

JOB GOALS:

 

  1. Provide all students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive, pleasant and smoothly functioning.
  2. Provide leadership in maintaining the camp/kitchen/farm property, buildings and equipment in a condition of safety, neatness, and aesthetic attractiveness.
  3. Work for and learn the positions of  Kitchen Manager, Farm Manager, and Ranger.  

 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 2; Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


1.         

Works directly for Kitchen Manager assisting food service staff in preparation of quality good tasting meals.

2.         

Supervises cleaning of all food service areas.

3.         

Assists in maintaining inventory of equipment and food.  Checks in and puts away food and supplies for school/kitchen/farm.

4.         

Schedules, organizes and supervises volunteers.  Participates in those tasks and inspects completion of work.

5.         

Observes all health hazards and warnings.

6.         

Assists Camp Ranger in instructing subordinates/volunteers in the safe and effective use of campus equipment.

7.         

Serves as emergency substitute for other adults who are in charge of children.

8.         

Assists Farm Manager as farm interpreter for visiting groups.

9.         

Is resourceful and improvises, demonstrates flexibility to respond rapidly to crises or opportunity.

10.      

Completes one week per year of professional growth training.

11.      

Operates all equipment in a safe manner.

12.      

Assists Farm Manager in regular maintenance of all farm equipment. Kitchen Manager with food service equipment, and Ranger with Camp equipment.

13.      

Be observant of surroundings at all times when operating equipment.

14.      

Keeps outdoors, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean as assigned.

15.      

Participates in mowing grounds.

16.      

In all maintenance/food service procedures minimizes cost and upholds a policy of preventative maintenance.

17.      

Be constantly on the alert for unsafe conditions and highest priority to correction.

18.      

Follows the daily work schedule carefully and keeps busy.

19.      

Performs other tasks that supervisors may direct.

20.      

Help with skilled trades when needed.

21.      

Assist in any emergency repair or clean up.

22.      

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisors and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

23.      

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

24.      

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

25.      

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

26.      

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business

27.      

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

28.      

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

29.      

Demonstrates aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities and is cognizant of good workmanship.

30.      

Maintains a neat personal appearance and represents camp to the general public.

 

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Ability to operate all types of food service, landscape, and  maintenance equipment including tractor and mower.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.  Ability to read basic operating instructions. 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability of lift 50 pounds of weight, walk five miles and work in outdoor extremes of heat, cold and humidity.
