TISD High School Student to Study with NASA Engineers

Robert E. Lee High School junior, Cole Paxson, has been nominated to participate in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) program.  Paxson will begin the first phase of the program with interactive web-based activities and distance learning in the spring. The next phase will be a residential experience and an on-site workshop at the NASA Johnson Space Center this summer. 

Selected students are encouraged to study mathematics, science, engineering and computer science by interacting with engineers at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

To participate in this program, students from across the state of Texas go through a competitive process that includes providing a high school transcript, a letter of recommendation and writing an essay to one of their state legislators.  Representative Leo Berman nominated Paxson to the HAS program.
