News Release TISD Principals Stand-Off for Good Cause
On Tuesday, November 2, the Moore Middle School Mustangs and the Hubbard Middle School Huskies suited up on the gridiron at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium to play football and celebrate homecoming festivities for both Tyler ISD campuses. This year a special challenge went out between the two principals, Hubbard Principal Anissa Kiener and Moore Principal Claude Lane, to see who could raise the most canned food items to support local food drives. The losing principal would be required to kiss the mascot of the winning school.
The results of the competition were announced at halftime during the football game with a total of 14,290 pounds of food collected and Moore Middle School declared the winner. Losing Hubbard Principal Anissa Kiener graciously kissed the Moore Mustang mascot. The real winner of the friendly competition is the Tyler Community who will receive these donations as distributed through the Kiwanis Club.
Jimmy Horton, Brookshires Store Director on East Fifth Street, agreed to sponsor the competition with all can food items collected going to benefit Brookshires and The Tyler Kiwanis Club’s Annual Christmas Food Drive. The Moore campus asked their feeder school, Clarkston Elementary School, to assist them in the drive and the total number of pounds that were raised by each campus individually were: 1090 pounds by Clarkston Elementary School; 4,200 pounds by Hubbard Middle School; and 9,000 pounds by Moore Middle School.
