Tyler ISD is appreciative of the continuous support of a local business in Tyler.  State Farm Insurance Company has chosen to support Tyler ISD’s Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program for a second year in a row.  John Merrill, local State Farm Insurance representative, recently presented a check in the amount of $5,500 to help fund the district’s elementary and secondary AVID programs.

“State Farm and Mr. Merrill have shown a constant support of AVID over the past couple of years.  Students have been and will continue to benefit in many ways through their assistance and belief in Tyler ISD and AVID students. We hope to continue our community partnership with State Farm in our future endeavors,” said Lillian Bowens, District AVID Director.

The grant will help to fund more than 500 students from Jones, Peete and Ramey elementary schools and John Tyler High School.
