Jack Elementary Makes TBEC Honor Roll

Congratulations to Dr. Bryan C. Jack Elementary School for being selected as one of the best academically performing schools in the state.  Jack Elementary has made the 2010 Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll for sustained, academic excellence.  The honor roll recognizes less than 4% of the more than 8,000 Texas public schools across the state.

“We are honored at Jack to be given this unexpected recognition," said Jack Elementary Principal Shauna Hittle.  “Our aim each year is to simply help all of our children succeed to their fullest potential.    We teach our students to set goals, reach inside and bring out their best, give them confidence and never quit.   This honor is a result of high expectations and hard work from the students, parents, and staff working together and striving to be our own personal best.   We are pleased to be recognized but we plan to keep working diligently each and every day to help every single student succeed at high levels because they each can and deserve to.”

The TBEC Honor Roll is the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas.  It recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations. TBEC Honor Roll schools have the highest percentage of students performing at the state’s most rigorous standard – commended – in every subject.  All of the TBEC Honor Roll schools will be recognized at an awards reception in Austin on Monday, November 15, 2010.

The coalition is a non-profit organization that brings business and education leaders together to help improve the performance of the State’s publicly funded education systems.                                                         ###
