Tyler ISD Foundation to Host Gil Hitt Memorial Golf Tournament

For the 17th year in a row, the Tyler ISD Foundation will host its annual HealthFirst TPA/Suddenlink Communications Gil Hitt Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 14th at Hollytree Country Club, located at 6700 Hollytree Drive, in Tyler.  Over the years, the event has raised more than $500,000 for the Tyler ISD Foundation, according to Stacey Hiles, 2010 committee chairperson.

Eighteen teams of six players each will be vying for prizes in the shamble format.  All proceeds of the tournament will go toward programs of the Tyler ISD Foundation which include student and teacher recognition, incentive grants for teachers and campuses as well as district and foundation events.

An exciting addition to this year’s tournament is a hole-in-one package that includes such prizes as a trip to Pinehurst Golf Resort in North Carolina and a $500 Visa gift card.  There will also be a “putt for cash” drawing, where one participant will have the opportunity to sink a 50 foot putt and win $2,500.

The tournament honors the memory of Gil Hitt, who died more than 10 years ago while serving as President of the Tyler ISD School Board.  Family member, Mrs. Debbie Hitt will be in attendance.

The two title anchor sponsors are HealthFirst Third Party Administrators and Suddenlink Communications.

The tournament underwriters include: one anonymous donor, Brookshire Grocery Company, CBS-19 TV, Estes, McClure and Associates, Eubanks Harris Roberts Craig Architects, Petty’s Irrigation, Tyler Morning Telegraph and Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins, and Mott, LLP.
