TISD Students Perform in ETSO Masterworks Series
Tyler ISD students recently had the honor of performing with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra (ETSO) during the Symphony’s 2009-2010 season finale of their 66th Season Masterworks Series. Each year, the ETSO conducts auditions for student musicians to perform with the orchestra members during their final performance of the year. Sixteen music students from the East Texas area were selected and performed in the Side-By-Side performance. The three students representing the district are from Robert E. Lee High School: Travis Farmer, Jasmine Jones and Marco Retana.
Farmer (percussionist), Jones (cello) and Retana (bass) were selected by audition to perform Liszt's Les Preludes, Symphonic Poem No. 3, with Music Director and Conductor, Per Brevig, and the East Texas Symphony Orchestra. The performance took place at the R. Don Cowan Fine & Performing Arts Center, UT Tyler on Saturday, April 24, 2010.
These three students are all honors musicians. Farmer is under the music direction of Robert Castillo, REL Red Raider Band and Jones and Retana are under the music direction of Mike Grinnell, REL Orchestra.
