News Release TISD School Earns EPA Designation Jack Elementary School has earned the U.S. Environmental Agency’s ENERGY STAR designation. This accomplishment will be recognized at the regular school board meeting to be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7 p.m. To earn the ENERGY STAR, a school must be more energy efficient than 75% of similar buildings nationwide.
“Tyler ISD is pleased to accept EPA`s ENERGY STAR in recognition of our energy efficiency efforts,” said Walter Jordan, Tyler ISD Energy Trades Coordinator. Through this achievement we have demonstrated our commitment to environmental management while also lowering our energy costs and also creating a comfortable learning and teaching environment for students and staff.”
The award is the result of both energy efficient design and good operating practices. Energy features at Jack Elementary include:
Eubanks Harris Roberts Craig is the architectural firm that constructed Jack Elementary and Estes, McClure & Associates, Inc. designed the mechanical and electrical systems for the building. Jack Elementary was the first new school completed from the 2004 Bond Program.
