Tyler ISD Announces New Auditor and Two Principals

            At the regular board meeting held this evening, the Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of three individuals for the following positions in the District. 

 

Director of Internal Audit

The Board of Trustees has approved and named Janice Coker as the Director of Internal Audit.  She will report to the Board of Trustees.  Coker holds nine years of management and accounting experience in education and is currently the Financial Accounting Director for the University of Alaska (UA) system.

 

            Coker began her accounting career in Fairbanks, Alaska, in 2000.  She then continued her accounting responsibilities with the University of Alaska where she was promoted to various internal auditing positions.

 

Coker holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, Alaska.  She also holds a Certified Public Account License in Alaska as well as Texas.  She officially begins in July. 

 

Boulter Principal

The Board of Trustees named Adrian Vega, a Dallas educator with more than 10 years of experience, as the new Principal of Boulter Middle School.  Vega is currently the Novice and Aspiring Principals Specialist, in the Dallas Independent School District in Dallas, Texas.

 

He began his education career in 1998 in Dallas ISD as an elementary bilingual teacher.  He continued his education career in Dallas ISD in a Community Liaison role, an assistant principal, and instructional specialist.

 

Vega holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Texas at San Antonio; and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.  He officially begins his duties July 1, 2009.

 

Dixie Principal

The Board of Trustees named Connie Thomas as the new Principal of Dixie Elementary School.  Thomas currently serves as an Elementary Assistant Principal in McKinney ISD.  She has 36 years of education experience in various districts in Texas and Louisiana serving in the roles of assistant principal, principal, and teacher.

 

Thomas earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana; and a Master’s degree in education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.  She officially begins her duties July 1, 2009.
