TISD and
TISD Foundation Receive Communication Awards
Tyler ISD and the
Tyler ISD Foundation received a total of 14 2008 TSPRA awards for
excellence in school communications. The awards were announced at the
Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Star Awards
Celebration on February 17 during the association’s annual conference in
San Antonia Texas.
Each year, TSPRA recognizes communicators in school districts, education
foundations, education associations and organizations for their
outstanding work in both print and electronic media. This year, 905
entries were received.
Entries that were selected as best in the state were honored with Silver
Star, Gold Star, and Best of Category Awards. Also, Crystal
Commendations were presented for outstanding entries that featured
special programs and events.
The following is a list of awards and recognitions for Tyler ISD and the
Tyler ISD Foundation based on school district size - Districts with
10,000 to 30,000 students:

Thomas, TISD Foundation Tracy Phelps and Larry Goddard)—Friendswood ISD
near Houston won; with runner ups Foundation Innovation/Pleasant Grove
ISD Texarkana and Weatherford ISD. (State wide competition; no
categories of school district size.)
• Programs: Tyler ISD Out of this World Teacher of the Year Program &
Ticket (Tyler ISD Sandra Stanley and Angela Jenkins) Gold
