TISD Director Recognized with State Award

Tyler ISD is proud to announce that Angela Jenkins, Director of Communications for Tyler ISD, received the 2008 TSPRA Rookie of the Year award.  The special recognition was announced this week at the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Star Awards Celebration during the association’s annual conference in San Antonio, Texas.

“I am truly humbled and honored by this recognition,” said Jenkins.  “I am very proud to serve the students and staff of Tyler ISD.  I love sharing the good news that takes place in our schools every day.”

The state-wide panel selected Jenkins over many nominees across the State.  To be considered for the Rookie of the Year award, the candidates shall be employed full time in the field of school public relations, hold professional membership in TSPRA, and exhibit a creative, dedicated, and professional approach to school communications. This person shall be a member of TSPRA and shall not have been employed in school public relations for more than 36 months at the time of the nomination deadline.

TSPRA, based in Austin, is a professional organization whose members are dedicated to improving public education in Texas by promoting effective public relations practices, providing professional development for its members, and improving communication between Texans and their public schools.
