News Release Goddard to Be Inducted as State Association Chairman
Larry Goddard of the Tyler ISD Foundation will be inducted as Chair of the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Education Foundation division on Tuesday, February 17th at the state-wide conference in San Antonio, Texas. Goddard has served as chair-elect for one year and has also served on the TSPRA executive committee. He will serve as Chair until February 2010.
TSPRA has over 800 members from public school communications, public relations, marketing, media and education foundation employees in Texas school districts. Dr. Ron Calgaard, former President of Trinity University, and Mary Gordon Spence of Brownwood, Texas, will be two of the keynote speakers.
Goddard joined the Tyler ISD Foundation in April 2006. Last month, Ted Siff, the publisher of Texas School Business presented a Bragging Rights Award to Tyler ISD and the Tyler ISD Foundation stating, “The Tyler ISD Foundation is a model for education foundations not only in Texas but across the United States.” The Tyler ISD Foundation has received regional, state and national awards in the past three years and is currently conducting their annual campaign using the theme, “We Believe in Tyler ISD.” Last week, the Foundation provided grants to every elementary school library as well as 13 teacher and campus grants on 11 different campuses. Last year, the Foundation provided more than $200,000 in support for the District.
The Tyler ISD Foundation was formed December 10, 1990, by local citizens dedicated to the educational opportunities in Tyler.
Goddard will co-present with Tracy Phelps, Director of Development, Tyler ISD Foundation, in a general session on Tuesday afternoon. Their topic, “The Year of the Dollar” will provide a year-round calendar of events for education foundation planning.
