Board
Recognizes Students, Staff and Foundation
The Board of
Trustees recognized Jay Ybarra, an eighth grader
at Hubbard Middle School, for writing an essay
that will be published in the new Pearson/Prentice Hall
Literature textbook. Jay was among the many students
across the state who submitted an essay to be included
in the textbook. His essay was chosen because he “best
modeled the writing workshop” in the textbook’s new
program. Jay’s essay was about the band hall at Hubbard
Middle School. The textbook company awarded Jay a
monetary award as well as giving him a complimentary
copy of the textbook when it is published.

2008.
