A Summary of the August 28, 2007 Tyler ISD Board of Trustees Meeting

Board Approves Budget

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2007-2008 District budget.  This budget is approximately $125.3 million, up about 5 percent, or $5.9 million, over the current year's adopted budget of $119.4 million.

Board Approves Tax Rate

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the tax rate of $1.215 for 2007-2008.  This tax rate is a .27 cent decrease from the current tax rate.  The tax rate of $1.215 is the rate necessary to fund the District’s General Operating and Debt Service Fund Budgets for 2007-2008.

Board Approves Plan to Fill Trustee Vacancy

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the plan to fill the vacancy for Single Member District 4.  The Board voted to begin accepting applications from anyone interested in serving the unexpired term.  The deadline to submit an application for the position will be noon on September 7.  The board may vote to appoint a person to the seat at its next regular school board meeting on September 20.
