Pair of 5A powers in East Texas have both won 5A titles this decade.

Saturday, August 30
Game 3: Texarkana vs. John Tyler – 7:30 p.m.
East Texas rivals meeting for the fifth consecutive time in Classic history.
All games will be held at the Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler.

Tyler ISD Celebrates Successful Test Scores
The Tyler Independent School District is proud to announce that all schools in the District are Academically Acceptable or above in the
Texas Education Agency (TEA) AEIS Campus Rating. 
Caldwell and Owens Elementary School received the
highest recognition level of Exemplary.
Tyler ISD had nine schools whose test scores advanced their
ratings to the level of Recognized:

Bonner Elementary                           Peete Elementary 
        Clarkston Elementary                          Rice Elementary           
    Douglas Elementary                    Andy Woods Elementary

Tyler ISD Board To Consider 2008-2009 Budget Today

The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees will consider today adopting its 2008-09 budget and setting a half-cent lower tax rate.  The new budget includes pay raises for teachers and other employees, as well as new money for technology purchases.

TISD Holds Convocation to Prepare for New Year

All employees of Tyler ISD gathered today for a convocation before the start of school. This years theme "One Passion...One Purpose" recognized the efforts of all and as KLTV 7's Danielle Capper found, encouraged the teachers as they prepare for their students.

First day enrollment numbers for Tyler ISD indicate an increase in enrollment compared to first day numbers last school year.  Total enrollment for the 2008-2009 school has started with 17,552 students compared to 17,175 on the first day in 2007.  READ MORE

Several teachers and campuses received exciting news at the Tyler ISD Convocation ceremonies on Monday, August 21st. They learned that their grant proposals for innovative programs will be funded by the Tyler ISD Foundation.

Memorial Fund Created to Honor Henry Conaway
A memorial fund with the Tyler ISD Foundation has been created to honor Henry Conaway, a 1940 graduate and athlete of Tyler High School.  The fund will help support the boys’ golf teams at Robert E. Lee High School and John Tyler High School.  READ MORE
